Granville is a coastal town in the Manche department of Normandy, France. Often called the “Monaco of the North” due to its rocky promontory and marina, the town overlooks the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. Originally a fortified settlement, Granville developed into an important fishing port and later became a popular seaside resort in the 19th century.
The town includes an upper town (haute-ville) with medieval ramparts and a lower town centered around the harbor. Granville is also known for the Christian Dior Museum, located in the designer’s childhood home. Its long beaches, tidal landscapes, and ferry connections to the Chausey Islands make it a notable destination for tourism and coastal activities.
