Krujë Castle stands on a rocky hill above the town of Krujë in Albania. In the 15th century, it became famous as the stronghold of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, Albania’s national hero, during his resistance against the Ottoman Empire. The castle resisted several Ottoman attacks and became a powerful symbol of Albanian courage and independence. Today, visitors can walk through its stone walls and visit the Skanderbeg Museum, which was opened inside the castle in 1982.
