QRENDI – Hagar Qim 3600BC

The temple of Ħ aġ ar Qim was excavated for the first time in 1839, dates from the Ġ gantija phase (c. 3600 – 3200 BC). It stands on a hilltop overlooking the sea and the islet of Fifla and lies some 2km south-west of the village of Qrendi. A number of important artefacts have been unearthed from ¨¤aġ ar Qim notably a decorated pillar altar, two table-altars and some of the ¡®fat lady¡¯ statues which are now on display at the National Museum of Archaeology, Valletta.
