PADERBORN – Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum – Project Apollo

On 800 square meters reveals an impressive backdrop of darkness, planets and spacecraft. In addition to historical-technical exhibits such as robots, engines or control modules, numerous models of rockets or the space station ISS illustrate vividly the way of man in the cosmos.
The exhibition shows with which computer technology the departure into space succeeded. In the sixties for the first time, computers were used in space travel. In HNF, digital technology is used like VR and AR to give visitors a novel experience of space travel. Visitors sit in the replica of a lunar vehicle of Apollo 17 and drive virtually over the Moon. They explore the ISS on a VR tour or lead in a replica Soyuz capsule a docking maneuver through. It is possible to photograph yourself as an astronaut or with an augmented reality application to discover the layers of a spacesuit.
