Five unique animal head posts were found in the Oseberg burial. Four of these are on display in the Viking Ship Museum. The fifth was unfortunately destroyed during the Second World War. It appears that they are made of different wood carvers, and none of the animal heads are equal. The use of the animal head posts is unknown.
