Experience Glasnevin: Ireland’s National Cemetery, in County Dublin is Ireland’s largest cemetery. Since 1832, more than 1.5 million people have been buried here including, Daniel O’Connell, Michael Collins, Charles Stewart Parnell, Maud Gonne and Eamon DeValera.
The stories of 1.5 million people are faithfully preserved here at Ireland’s largest burial place, a beautifully restored Victorian cemetery featuring epic monuments to our past. From poets and presidents, singers and suffragettes, the ordinary and the extraordinary – the stories of those who shaped our nation’s history are brought to life.
Ireland’s National Cemetery is located just 2.5km from Dublin City centre. Glasnevin is a Victorian garden cemetery and covers 124 acres with plenty to appreciate. You will find the largest collection of Celtic crosses in the world here. The interactive visitor centre on site has award winning exhibits including “The City of the Dead” and numerous photographs from the cemetery’s history.
