BRUSSEL – Tutankhamun: His Tomb and His Treasures – Anubis

Exhibitions about Egypt’s fascinating works of art have been enjoying great popularity for many years. is based on photos of Harry Burton.
The photographer documented every aspect of the work in Tutankhamun’s tomb, from the first inventory-taking to the transfer of the last find to the museum. Only in Burton’s photographs did the Pharaoh achieve true immortality.
The exhibition allows visitors to walk into an overwhelming treasure chamber. Three of Tutankhamun’s tomb chambers have been reconstructed true to the originals and their dimensions.
The Shrine of Anubis found in Tutankhamun’s tomb is an important object. The statue of Anubis, depicted in animal form as a recumbent jackal, is attached to the roof of the shrine.The statue is made of wood, covered with black paint.
Anubis is a god of the afterlife who protected the dead, guarding their spirits into the afterlife, and punished mortals who violated a sacred tomb.
