A recently rediscovered sample of browncoal in the Geiseltalmuseum of the Martin-Luther-University in Halle (Saale), Sachsen-Anhalt, Central Germany, which is labelled as gut content of an early horse has been studied together with the accompanying historic microscopical slides.
