Bütgenbach is the center of the Belgian part of the High Eifel. Many German-speaking Belgians live there. It is a real hiking and skiing paradise there. The place actually consists of several villages, which together form the municipality of Bütgenbach. These are the villages of Berg, Bütgenbach itself, Elsenborn, Küchelscheid, Leykaul, Nidrum and Weyertz. The village is located at an altitude of 548 meters on the southwestern shore of Lake Bütgenbach.
