At the main entrance of Évora Cathedral, you are greeted by one of its most beautiful Gothic details: the stone figures of the Apostles.
Carved in the 14th century, they stand around the portal like silent guardians, welcoming visitors into the cathedral. The entrance shows the moment when Évora’s strong, fortress-like cathedral becomes something more delicate and spiritual, with detailed sculpture, pointed arches and centuries of history carved into the stone.
