The Briksdal Glacier is an arm of the Jostedal Glacier, the largest glacier on the European mainland and a protected national park. This ice giant covers 486 square meters and is up to 400 meter deep. Its highest point is 1.950 meter above sea level. The Briksdal Glacier ends in a lake only 346 meter above sea level.The Briksdal Glacier has shaped the lush Briksdalen valley over several thousand years. Tourists have been transported along the Oldedalen valley on two-wheeled horse-drawn carts for more than 100 years. These trips have been extremely popular and representatives of most of the European monarchies have allowed themselves to be transported on these carts. Nowadays, ‘Troll cars’ transport tourists to the Briksdal Glacier.
