TOURS – Cloître de la Psalette

Contiguous to the cathedral, the cloister of Psalette owes its name to a vocal ensemble of the chapter whose repetitions took place in one of the rooms at the Middles Ages. The cloister consists of three galleries mixing the Gothic and Renaissance style. The cloister connects the buildings of the chapter, of which only the scriptorium and bookshop were preserved. Located below the western gallery, the bookshop is an arched room, completed in 1460. In the northern gallery, built in 1508, a small oratory preserves the fragments of a fresco representing ‘ the Massacre of the Innocents’.
