In 1505 the fertile plains of Zemgale held a medieval estate here, but the grand palace known today was born centuries later. From the site’s early 16th-century roots grew the dream of a ducal residence that would one day rival Europe’s finest courts.
Reimagined in the 18th century as a dazzling Baroque masterpiece for the Dukes of Courland, Rundāle now stands fully restored. Its gilded halls, French gardens, and sweeping façades invite visitors into the elegance of Latvia’s aristocratic past and the enduring grace of Baltic Baroque.
