Founded in the 13th century by the Franciscan order, the Saint Francis Convent is still the heart of the Alesani Valley, a building rich in history to which the inhabitants of the region are attached.
Around 1460, Fra Pietro Da Brieta of Oletta was both the witness and the protagonist of a miracle that took place at the Convent. After this, the altarpiece of the Virgin was considered miraculous and Fra Pietro Da Brieta was declared “Blessed” after his death at the convent of Biguglia in 1478. If this were the case, the repercussions of these manifestations of piety and fervor led the monks to move the old convent poorly adapted to a new and more suitable place. In any case, the new convent exists at its current location in 1587.
