ZLEBY – Žleby Castle

Žleby is a village in the Czech Republic. It is well known for the baroque-romanticistic castle. Originally this was a a Gothic sentry castle of the Lichtenburk family from the 13th century. It later became a royal castle, rebuilt into a renaissance castle, later adapted in Baroque. In the 19th century it was rebuilt in the style of Romanticism by the Auersperg family. The castle features an English park and a deer-park. The historical interiors show collections from the 16th–19th centuries, furniture, weapons, glass, china, hunting trophies, paintings, an armoury and a chapel.
