Veverí Castle

Veverí castle – one of the largest and unfortunately currently also one of the most neglected castlex in the Czech Republic – was gradually built during a period of almost 8 centuries. Mentioned for the first time in 1213, it originally most probably was a small hunting castle or perhaps only a courtyard of Moravian margraves. The stone castle was probably built in the second half of of the 13th century. Even though the reconstruction has already started, renewal of the castle buildings, its contents, the courtyard and the parks will take many more years.
