Old Town Hall

This symbol of the self-administration of the Staré Mìsto originated in 1338. The core of the whole building is the Gothic corner house which was built at the end of the 13th century. The 66 m high tower and the chapel were added at a later stage. The Prague Astronomical Clock is a medieval astronomical clock mounted on the southern wall of Old TownHall and is a popular tourist attraction. The clock is composed of three main components: the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; ‘The Walk of the Apostles’, a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months.
