Hluboká Castle

The castle was originally a castle and underwent several reconstructions. The history of the estate is marked with the date of 1290, when below its fortifications Záviš of Falknštejn was beheaded for alleged treason. Since 1661 Hluboká was owned by the Schwarzenberg Family, who first had the chateau reconstructed in the Baroque style and then in 19th century decided to turn the castle into a romanticist estate reminding of Windsor neo-gothic. Visitors of the castle can choose from several tours including the attractive Representation Tour focusing on the representative rooms on the 1st floor, the Schwarzenberg Armoury showing a high-standard collection of weapons and armours of the family dating from 13th to 19th centuries and the castle kitchen with a display of a wealth of kitchen equipment dating from the turn of 19th and 20th centuries.
